I recently opened a 12 mos. CD in Yuan/CNY/RMB at the Bank of China in Manhattan. The APR is a limp .75 percent. I did this to gain from Yuan appreciation and will likely put in more if the currency keeps on moving up.
The exchange rate they gave me was 6.41 to 1 USD, on May 11, 2011. I have had a heck of time learning from them exactly what their reference point was for this rate.
Can anyone suggest how to find this out? And is that a middle of the road rate for that date?
